Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach to enhancing the body’s natural healing processes by addressing imbalances in the craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Developed by osteopath Dr. John E. Upledger in the 1970s, CST focuses on releasing tension and restrictions in this system, resulting in improved overall health and well-being. Practitioners use light touch, often no more than the weight of a nickel, to assess and manipulate the subtle rhythmic motion of the craniosacral system.

One of the primary goals of craniosacral therapy is to support the body’s innate ability to self-correct. The therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, migraines, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and post-traumatic stress. It is also often used to promote relaxation and enhance general wellness. Unlike more forceful manual therapies, CST works by facilitating the body’s own natural healing mechanisms, making it a suitable option for people of all ages, from infants to the elderly.
